CNC and N2000, Trinidad and Tobago
Caribbean Nitrogen Company Limited (CNC) and Nitrogen (2000) Unlimited (N2000) own two world-scale anhydrous ammonia plants on the Point Lisas Industrial Estate. Bringing together extensive global expertise and insight in ammonia technology, project financing and execution, and the ammonia market, the two companies achieved international recognition during the development and commissioning of the plants, which began production in 2002 and 2004 respectively.
The two plants on the Point Lisas Industrial Estate have a combined annual production capacity of 1.3 million metric tons and are operated by Industrial Plant Services Limited (IPSL) which also operates the Methanol Holdings (Trinidad) Limited’s (MHTL) plants.
CNC and N2000, alongside global partners, produce, market and distribute a low-cost, highly effective nitrogen-based fertilizer which is a globally traded commodity. Ammonia produced at CNC and N2000 is marketed exclusively by Koch Fertilizer International to customers located as far afield as Africa, Asia, North America and South America
About 0.7 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO₂) by-product from the plants is sold annually to other Point Lisas plants for use in methanol and urea production to reduce emissions.
